Fundraising

In order to procure the necessary funds, The Otherkin Community will be planning a series of fundraising campaigns.

  • Nanara stated that she would look into what funding may be available outside the United States.
  • Clodaus will prepare a donation bar to place at the top of the site to encourage donations up to a certain threshold, after creating a post to inform members of upcoming changes.

Logo

The problem still remains that The Otherkin Community, Inc.'s logo has not been fully determined and created.

  • Tsukikage stated that she would continue working on the proposed logo image.
  • As decided in the previous meeting, the Community will continue using the current logo until the new logo has been finalized.

Products

Clodaus had previously begun creating products on CafePress. Until The Otherkin Community is able to procure the funds to purchase products in bulk, the Community will use services such as CafePress to generate initial product income.

  • Nanara suggested the use of cartoon representations of the Board members for products.
  • Wraith suggested the gathering of quotes from our members for use on products.
  • The Otherkin Community Book was an idea proposed a while back. Clodaus suggested that this be renewed. The decision was that the Board would encourage more submissions.

Membership

Membership to non-profits is stock to for-profits. The Board began discussing what membership options are available to provide additional benefits to those who help support the Community through regular charitable donations.

  • Clodaus will research what benefits other not-for-profits provide for their members.
  • The Board will continue discussion within the Director Forums of The Otherkin Community Forums and list what The Otherkin Community is currently able to provide to paid members.
  • The Board needs to consider a descriptive title for members to separate them from the common term "members" used to represent registered users on The Otherkin Community Forums.

Research

The research project will be the driving force of all research projects for The Otherkin Community, and is currently in the planning stages.

  • It was decided that The Otherkin Community does not currently have enough resources to begin the research project. More individuals are needed to donate their time toward supervising test runs for the project, as the Board does not currently possess enough time to do so on their own.
  • In the meantime, the Board will seek out individuals interested in both supervising and participating in the project trials.

Miscellaneous

  • Clodaus can now prepare a post addressing the upcoming changes to The Otherkin Community, including planned projects (was previously waiting on summary of Research Project).
  • Clodaus will continue working on completing the necessary paperwork for filing with the IRS in order to obtain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
  • There existed confusion as to where moderators stood in regards to the Forums Committee. It was decided that the Forums Committee would consist of Directors and forum administrators, while moderators would be under their jurisdiction.

Member Management

  • Clodaus will create a warning management system to provide a better method of keeping track of warnings issued to users and members.
  • By majority vote of all Board members (3-0), it has been decided that after three warnings have been issued, all future warnings would have a duration of one year (as opposed to the three month warning duration before expiration). This is to help ensure members do not circumvent the system by counting down the days until they're able to make their next violation. This is subject to change to accommodate an increased duration.
