Michael Gerwitz
Alias: Clodaus
Mike began his research into Otherkin and metaphysical practices back in 2003. Since then, his interest in the topics has sparked an array of research, and his incessant urge to help others resulted in the founding of The Otherkin Community, Inc. in January of 2006. Mike has always expressed an interest in phenomenon relating to metaphysical sciences, but at the same time was turned away from it due to the portrayal by the media and the unnecessary hype the phenomenon received. Highly opposed to how the world views what he believes to be such an important and poorly evaluated aspect of life, and how ignorant and unaccepting society is of existing research in fields such as parapsychology, he has adopted a personal goal of educating the world on experimental results as well as the beliefs and practices of minority groups such as Otherkin.
Mike also noticed something about the concept of Otherkin in general, as well as those who practiced arts relating to metaphysics, such as energy manipulation or magick. The arts seemed to lack objective thought and self evaluation (with the exception of a minority), and were often used as a form of escapism or thrown away as a fad. Mike, also highly opposed to "bind faith", also encourages self exploration, critical thought, evaluation of experiences, and skepticism, which he feels will help further understanding of the arts and help to bring more acceptance from outside communities. Armed with an array of theories, ideas, research, and the will to be the driving force behind organizations such as The Otherkin Community, Mike also strives to bring further acceptance to a minority that often fears to come forward due to societal pressures.
Outside of The Otherkin Community, Mike is a web and software developer for GNU/Linux systems and a strong supporter of Free Software.
