The Otherkin Community:Site support
From The Otherkin Community
As The Otherkin Community grows increasingly large, the cost to maintain it also increases. Currently, the founder of The Otherkin Community, Clodaus, pays such costs out of his own pocket. However, in the future the cost will be too great to do so. The Community was created to be supported by its members - the members get out of it what they put in. Though that may not be the case now as it is starting out, that will have to be the case in the future.
In the future, Otherkin Community products will also be available to help support the community.

2009 Community Expenses
Currently, the community is hosted on Clodaus' server on which he hosts his other websites. Therefore, it is difficult to determine a cost for hosting. In the future, when the community is much larger, a number of servers will have to be dedicated to the community - then the expenses will be much greater. Because this is a personal server, and it is not dedicated to the community, the estimated expense of $50 for the server is optional, and if not fulfilled, will not make an impact on the community.
Currently, expenses are done on a yearly basis, beginning each January and ending each December. Therefore, for the first year, the expenses were entirely covered by Clodaus (the community hadn't really taken off until after the first year, so it's only fair). As the community grows larger, expenses will be paid every 3 - 6 months.

Help With The Otherkin Community's Filing!
The Otherkin Community, within the next year, will file with New York State and the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity. Doing so is not free. Clodaus will pay the expenses with or without the support of the Community's members, however if you wish to show your support, please make a donation. If you would like to have the donations go toward the Community's filing rather than domains, please include that message in your donation. All donations made after the domain costs are covered will go toward the Community's filing, followed by the hosting charge, should we get that far.
- Obtaining consent from the New York State Department of Education: $10
- Filing the Certificate of Incorporation with the New York Department of State: $75
- Filing with the IRS for tax-exempt status: $300
Total Filing Expenses: $385
Current Paid Expenses: -$106.18 USD (27.5%)
Remaining Expenses: $278.82 USD (72.4%)
Special thanks to Jocelyn G. Bolling for the donation of her time and expertise during this long process.
Contributors
Below is a list of those who have contributed to the community. The amounts of the contribution will not be disclosed to remove the pressure of donating as much as other members (or as little). If you are on this list and would like to be removed, please contact an administrator.
Extra Donations
In the event we receive too many donations, and that month's expenses are covered, it will either go to additional community services or roll over into the next month's expenses. Such services will be voted on by members. Remember, The Otherkin Community is a non-profit organization - no person will make a profit off of the community. Remember, whatever the members put in, they get back out.
How To Donate
Donations are currently only accepted through PayPal. All payments are placed into a community account. In the future, the amount in the account will be visible by everyone via The Otherkin Community website. You may make a donation by clicking on 'Donate' button on the left side of the screen.
Note that PayPal takes out a 3% + $0.30 USD fee per transaction, which will not be included in the above donation information.
Donation Categories
Donors may optionally specify what specific area of the community they would like their donation to go to3. The categories are listed below, and will increase once the community grows. If a donor decides to donate to a category that has already been fulfilled, they will be contacted and it will either carry over into the next month or be placed in a different category.
Donors may specify the category either with the donation or in a separate E-mail to community support using the same E-mail address as their PayPal account4.

Notes
1. The term 'private' when used with a domain name implies that the owner's registration information is not displayed in the WHOIS database. If the domain were not private, the register's name and address would be displayed.
2. This page will be updated periodically as donations are received.
3. This will be overridden if it nears the end of the year and the expense has not yet been fulfilled. When such an event occurs, it will be noted here.
4. This allows us to verify your identity.
